Upper West Side Terrace I

The study/family room of this Upper West Side townhouse opens on to this roof top garden. An efficient layout, which includes a dining area, lounge seating area, and outdoor grill, maximizes the space of this versatile terrace. A cement board fence surrounding the terrace provides screening from neighboring buildings along with three multi-stemmed birch trees. Plantings of grasses and flowering perennials spill out from recessed planters in the terrace paving.

RKLA also designed the front entryway of this townhouse in collaboration with the architects. Custom blackened copper planters compliment the new curved ironwork staircase to the garden level doorway and decorative clay planters add additional plantings and seasonal color to the streetscape of this historic city block.
