Upper Eastside Townhouse
This 4-story limestone townhouse was previously renovated by architect Peter Pennoyer and garden designer Madison Cox in 1996. After our client purchased the home in 2021, we undertook a new renovation, keeping the spirit of a historic New York City townhouse and updating with modern upgrades to meet our client's needs.
Preservation of the existing treillage, trees, and vines maintains the established character of the space, while new paving, walls, steps, lighting, and plantings bring it into alignment with the client’s preference for a more tailored look.
The house has beautiful curb appeal and our goal in the front was to create a more private entry experience. A new gate was added that referenced the existing facade ironwork detailing. The two majestic cherry trees were cared for and the balustrade was carefully restored.
